We harvested carrots! And planted a bunch of other lovely things.

488 Drip Coffee

 

Inspired by D&J's photo, I decided to try a macro shot of water splashing. This is actually coffee and it didn't turn out quite as nice as theirs, but I still like it. Thanks to J for dripping coffee out of a straw at precisely the right moment :-)

Had a bunch of people over today for grillin' and game playin'. Roo and Sam and Tesla were on scrap patrol.

486 Such a Pansie

 

Around 2:30am I realized I hadn't taken any pictures today... so I decided to switch things up a bit and take a picture of a flower at night instead of in the sunshine. Of course, this meant a 30s exposure and pain-in-the-butt manual focusing with my head three inches from the ground. Still, I like the result.

484 Deeply Rooted

 

Potatoes, yams, turnips, parsnips, carrots, onions and a rutabaga¹, roasted with herbs de provence given to me by Rissa. They were ridiculously good- as was the easy shrimp² (cooked in garlic/shallot/cilantro/wine/lemon) and couscous she suggested I make to go with. I managed to thoroughly stuff the boys and E & C, but not so much that we didn't ooh and ahh over E's fancy strawberry rhubarb tartlets.

¹ I have never had rutabaga before and neither had anyone else. As it turns out, they are very tasty!
² I've also never made shrimp myself before. I was pleasantly surprised how fast, easy and yummy they were.

So, this time it's a plum blossom. I can't help that spring has finally sprung and I adore all the flowers growing in my yard! The weather was perfect and these smell amazing :-)

We took Rissa to visit the Fremont Troll this morning before going into party prep mode. This is the view if you turn your back on the troll.

You've had those dinners where the mess on the plate looks like modern art, right? I really hope I'm not the only one who thinks that... Anyway, this is at Tandoori Hut, one of our regular lunch places where tonight I had dinner. I'm not sure what exactly these substances are, but the red one was vaguely sweet/spicy and thin and oily, while the green one was spicier but thick and creamy. Both were good on papadums.

I know this is my second cherry blossom picture this week, but I couldn't get over how crazy blue the sky was (just after sunset) along side the pinkypink. It was windy, so you get impressionist-style blossoms.

Enough of these bright and sunny pictures of the outdoors. Today I return to form with a grainy photo taken in a dark bar. This is at the CanCan where J and I joined B and A to watch some lady singers. This one had the most astonishing voice- like like she swallowed a large gospel/soul singer.
