461 Stalling

 

On the way to airport, R and I detoured to Camden for some food. I snapped a few last-minutes pictures while we waited for our crepes.

B isn't gay, but he is a snazzy dresser and a sign like this demands to be posed for. Yes, he does look shockingly like Morrissey.

457 Here Be Dragons

 

This is near the tower, rather late at night. R and I were walking back to the Isle of Dogs all the way from Borough and it was very dark and deserted. The luminous stripe you see is cars driving by during the long exposure. (Of course, I took lots of others and here are a few of them.)

454 Eye Candy

 

Oh hey, I'm not dead or anything! I went away to London for a week and, despite careful planning, had no RAW editing powers while I was there... so I'm editing the hundreds of pics from the week now. This one is at Sea-tac, on the way to my flight.

Saw this on my way to the bus but I was was running errands and didn't have my camera... so I went back later and snapped it. The sun was nice enough to make an appearance as I did. Yay spring!

452 Five Kings of Fremont

 

Found myself in Fremont with D this morning, where we tried (and failed) to go to the Barleywine festival at Brouwer's. Instead we went for greek breakfast, followed by gelato. These faces are on the wall behind Lenin.

Spent the day being very, very sick. I'm fine now, but didn't take any pictures of the experience.

450 Scrub

 

This is Scrub, our new birdfriend. He visits every morning and is, in fact, a Western Scrub Jay. His call is obnoxious, but we love him anyway. (Also, weird that yesterday and today's pics are "animals photographed through glass." )

449 I'm an Otter!

 

OMG OTTERS. J and I took the day off work today to celebrate our six-year anniversary by lounging around town and going to the aquarium. I have a problem with otters, in that I turn into a blubbering idiot as soon as I see one. I took something like 100 pictures of them, but I love the look on this guy's face, so it's the PotD. Here are a few others.

446 Purple Drank

 

I've been meaning to show off my fancy purple hair, but it's actually pretty hard to macro your own head without a remote timer. Here's a myspace-style shot from at arms length. This purple fades to bright pink :-)

F&C had a bunch of people over for ice cream cake and firey death. They also had strawberries, which were fantastic, especially for March.

Cherry Street, our primary work coffeeshop, has really tasty (and expensive, both monetarily and calorically) cookies. I try not to eat them, but there's nothing wrong with taking pictures of them.

This is when I got home from work tonight. At least I remembered to snap a picture.

441Chiaroscuro

 

People came over to eat pizza and play cards... and I got in their face with my camera. Mostly the pictures were bad, but I like the light in this one. L wasn't actually eating pizza in the dark, I just intentionally underexposed the picture. If I'm honest, I'll say that I was actually thinking about Rembrandt and the way he used light in his paintings and I thought it was kind of funny to apply the technique to something like eating pizza. I don't think I really pulled it off, but it was fun to try.

At the CanCan, where I was for about five minutes today in between a bunch of other places. First Thursday ftw!

435 Won't You Be My Neighbor

 

I worked from home today, which was quiet and rather dull. To compensate, Julio and I took a walk for my lunch hour: sixty minutes, sixty-seven pictures. This one was taken at an amazing little park a few blocks from my house. I'm absolutely in love with this sculpture and the other bronze and stone ones at the park. This is the first time I'd been there in daylight and I was pleasantly surprised at the details of this donkey guy and his elephant friend. I also stumbled on this house, which was almost my potd, but the donkey was friendlier.

Today was one of those rare days where I really just forgot to take a photo. Crazy.

433 Thank You Ma'am

Went to the twilight exit's new location, which looks a lot like its old location inside. E, C, D, J and I had tots and booze and messed around with the photo booth, with hilarious results. I also got in D's way while he played pinball, pressing my camera against the glass to snap this pic.

432 Aurora c.2009

I had to pick up a battery tender for my bike from a shop on Aurora today. This is the (rainsoaked) view from the footbridge over the road. It reminded me very much of vintage city photos like this one. I sepia'd it for fun. I wonder what this place will look like in a hundred years... Probably under water.
