305 A Maize

 

Today's one of those days where I have too many fun pictures to happily pick just one. Today we went on our annual corn maze excursion. I think D and I made J weep real tears with our multitude of horrible (corny) puns. The kettle corn, cider and petting zoo is what you're not seeing here... they had a yarnbeast! Following that, we had lunch at RedHook with A, J, C and others... and then we headed to a halloween party full of hilarity. I won't be posting pictures of me dressed up as a LOLcat here. :-)

Marlowe got a new toy today... it's a glove with little toy mice attached to the fingers with elastic cord. He <3s it big time. (I also had to take this with my phone, so it's a little crappy.)

302 View Noir

 

Something I love about this house that most visitors don't get to see is the film noir-ish way it feels when the lights go out. There are lots of amazing angles and shadows, including this one, which is the view from the back porch. The dog and I were out there discussing the bright yellow color and I decided to try to snap a memory of it. Otherwise, this was after a Brando double feature with A and some awesome homemade veggie korma. I didn't want to post two food pics in a row, so you get this instead :-)

301 Real Food for Real People

 

D had the brilliant idea that we should cook a real dinner. He made the parsnip and carrot mash. I made the lemon salmon and brussel sprouts. It was super tasty and took less than an hour.

This is the yoyo guy at Get Loweded. Not the best picture I've ever taken, but I still kinda like it. Besides, all the rest of the pictures are of people who I take too many pictures of anyway.

299 Yard Wasted

 

This is a little less than half the glass recycling from last night. Note that one of those is a 32gallon trash can. Man, you people drink a lot. Other than recycling, I did nothing but sit on the couch all day long.

The party. It was awesome. I didn't take many pictures (at least not ones I could post online without a waiver), but all the ones I did take have a similarly drunken feel to them. Whee!

297 Hit the Wall

 

Feeling uninspired again today. Worked from home, went shopping, worked on house stuff and hung out with A and D until J got home from San Diego. Tomorrow will be more photogenic, I think.

296 Mass Hysteria

 

I'm not sure if Marlowe was trying to perform an exorcism or what here, but it was shockingly adorable. I should probably quit posting pictures of the aminals, but seriously, they're cuter than cute.

295 WTB Tripod

 

I always try to take pictures of rainy nights and shadows and they almost always turn out crappy. I'm not sure this is all that different, but it's what I got. Taken on the rainy, dark walk home after a crappy day at work. Reminds me that I should really attempt to find and unpack my bendy tripod.

294 That is a Cat and a Rat

 

There's a story behind this cat. It also has a fishbowl that belongs where the rat is. There's also a story behind the rat. The story behind the two of them is that D thought the scene was funny like a week ago and I haven't touched it since.
(I just snapped this on the way to bed because I spent the whole evening building furniture and taking Marlowe to the emergency vet. He's fine, but I think he might've used up one of his lives.)

Spent a good chunk of the day at a zombie film festival at MOHAI. This zombie let me take a picture of her before she came after me, lookin' for fresh brains. She was slow, luckily, so I'm still alive ;-)

Our IT guy at work calls himself Squidd and has lots of the accompanying paraphernalia. When I saw this pile of orange goodness on his desk, I had to catch it.

I had a ridiculously busy day at work, followed by a visit to an injured friend, followed by the Noc Noc, where I took this picture (and four very similar ones, all of which turned out surprisingly good).

I decided color study didnt just mean one color. These are actually magnets on our fridge. Impulse buy at Bed Bath and Beyond becomes fancy snooty art pic. I like it.

I'm very sleepy, but didn't want to miss out on another color photo. As I looked around for what color to pick, the obvious choice jumped out at me. Guest who this is :-)

J and I came home from Ikea tonight to discover D and G assembling chairs in our dining room. Thanks guys!
In potd news, I'm apparently doing color studies this week. I like this black on black thing today - not grainy!

J and I put together our giant game table tonight. I don't know why this foil muffin tin was magically within arms reach when I started sorting screws, but I feel as though I should recommend Ikea ship one with every major furniture purchase.

284 Seattle AIDS Walk 08

 

I volunteered for the LLAA AIDS walk again this year. This is the corner where my buddy and I were camped out with whistles and bright orange "OBEY ME" t-shirts. I can't decide if this is a boring picture of a bunch of people walking or if the couple in the middle make it special. Regardless, it marks another year without a cure.

Even the bus drivers were honking at these guys as they went by Westlake this (rainy) afternoon. I love living in a place where my values are shared by so many others... but at the same time, I really wonder what life is like for those on the other side.

282 To Be, After All

 

Left my camera at work AGAIN today... and when I tried to snap a picture of the massive sunflower I found in Ballard, my cameraphone pooped out too. I took it as a hint that today's photo was not to be.
Turns out, that picture did end up on my phone after all! It's not good, but it's here: a GIANT sunflower.
