280 What a Pile

 

Forgot my camera at work today, so the crappy camera phone will have to suffice for this PoTD. These are my clothes, which are on a pile on the floor because I still havent figured out what to do with my dresser-that-wont-fit-up-the-stairs. Also, I apparently wear a lot more colors these days.

Marlowe's eyes are turning green. This is the only picture I took today, so this is the one you get.

277 Plum Tarted

 

I asked the intertrons what to do with the massive amount of plums C harvested off the trees in our backyard and R came to the rescue with a fantastic plum tart recipe. I never bake, but this seemed so simple and so delicious that even I couldn't mess it up... and I didn't. It turned out fantastic! J and I snarfed a slice each while Marlowe (that's his name) and Roo watched jealously.

Took this one walking from dinner to the bus stop - it's just a stone bench and some ground, but for some reason it was really striking to me. The sparkly pavement might've had something to do with it.

Ran a testbed event today that didn't go quite as planned. I've never had players mad enough to swear at me before and I can't say i liked it. Still, we tested what needed testing and got some good feedback. Better luck next time. This is a photo of a full-screen screencap of the map before a huge battle. Cheap? Perhaps. Awesome? Definitely.

Ok, I know this is a boring picture of a couch, but I haven't seen this couch without a dropcloth on it in a month, so it's exciting to me. We got almost all the painting done today! (Except for a couple weird touch-up areas, like the one near the top left window.)

There are few things I love more in the world than this duvet. We got it back today from the dry cleaners and I only just barely escaped spending the entire day curled up in bed.

I look forward to going here every single morning. Katy herself makes the most amazing fresh baked things - scones with big chunks of peaches or blueberries, amazing muffins, even warm homemade granola bars. The coffee is good too. It comes in cups with hand-drawn "<3 Katy's" on them in marker.

267 You Remind Me of the Babe

 

My coworker B brought his two tiny kids into work today for a while. It's amazing to see the whole office light up when they stop by, but not surprising given how utterly adorable they are. Kids scare the crap out of me, but these two are just dolls. (I'm a little annoyed by the Olan Mills-ness of this picture, but it's probably one of the first ones I've taken of a baby ever, so I'm giving myself a break.)

I couldn't decide whether to post a picture of Neal Stephenson (who gave me a t-shirt at his reading!) or of the antics at Rebar, so I'm picking neither and opting for this one instead. It's on Denny over I-5 on the way home.

262 Traffic Violation

 

Picture the scene: I'm waiting for the bus after staying at work way too late. There's little traffic. Of COURSE I went out into the middle of the road, set the camera down and took pictures. This particular one was the moment I realized a car was approaching behind me. Oops. (Here's a runner up from the same set)

261 Stop and Smell the...

 

...whatevet kind of flower this is. They're growing in one of our neighbors' yards and I can't get over how gorgeous the purple is. The neighbor came home to find me snapping pictures on his porch. He was very pleased and friendly.
(sidenote: any resemblance of these two stalks to certain towers associated with this day in history was unintentional. creepy, though.)
